Peggy Benton Villani, 63, of Myrtle Beach, SC, lost her battle with ALS-Lou Gehrig's disease and passed away peacefully at her home early Sunday morning, March 4, 2012. Peggy was born on September 13, 1948, in Conway, SC to the late Lucille Nance Benton Tamplet and the late George Leon Benton. A life-long resident of Myrtle Beach, Peggy graduated Winyah High School in Georgetown and attended Florence Business College. Before her early retirement she worked as Director of Risk Management for Canal Industries, Inc. Peggy was an avid golfer competing in events all across the Carolinas and the Grand Strand. As a member of The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, Peggy was the Women's Club Champion in 1996 and in 2000 while she was runner-up in 1993, 2001, 2002 and 2003. Peggy and AJ were also The Dunes Club Des Sullivan Husband and Wife Champions in 1989-1992, 1994, 1995, 1999 and 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. A.J. Villani Jr. and her beloved brother, Gerald Leon Benton. She is survived by her son, Thomas Jenkins Harrison III and wife Jeannie and her beloved grandson, T.J. Harrison of Garden City; her sister, Jacqueline Benton Georgius Carnevale and husband, Vincent James of Hilton Head Island; niece, Kimberly Georgius Hendrikx of Bladel, The Netherlands; nephew, John Randolph Georgius Jr and wife Sherrard of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Violet Kitchen Benton of Georgetown, SC; niece, Brandi Benton Spencer and husband Josh of Marion, SC; step-daughter, Karen Villani Nye and husband Scott, granddaughter Allison Nye, and grandson Andrew Nye of Peachtree, GA; and step-son, Tony Villani of Delray Beach, FL. Peggy is also survived by a very special and devoted paternal aunt, Ruby Benton Causey of Myrtle Beach, SC, and a very special maternal aunt, Lorraine Nance Rowe of Murrells Inlet, SC. A service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 8th at McMillan-Small Funeral Home with Dr. J. Kirk Lawton, Jr. presiding. Following the service the family will receive friends at the funeral home.
