Phyllis Tanner (Powell) (1965)

Connie passed away on June 3rd, 2010.  She had Pulmonary Hypertension and was on the bi-lateral lung transplant list at UNC Chapel Hill.  She was working for Dr. Eugene Giddens and worked until the day before she died.  She was at home with me and could not seem to breath easily, so I called 911 and she died in the ambulance between our house and the hospital.  It was quick and was a blessing.  She was VERY sick and in a lot of pain.  The diagnosis was July, 2009 at the Medical University in Charleston.  She had a strong faith, spirit and a wonderful laugh.  She loved my three children like they were her own and they called her "AC" instead of Aunt Connie.   It has been a very difficult year for me and my children, but good memories never fade away.  Tell someone each day that you love them or time may slip away and you no longer have that moment.  She never met a stranger, she was a wonderful woman and a loving sister.

I was deeply saddened by Connie's passing. We were good friends all the way through school and I will never forget her laugh and the way she always punched me on the shoulder. I last saw her in 2008 and got a good long hug from her. Thank you,Connie
