Lloyd Sinclair Chinnes of Surfside Beach passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
 

He was born July 17, 1922 in Hemingway, S.C., the son of B.R. and Italene Tillman Chinnes.

 


After graduating from Hemingway High School, he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps. He graduated from the University of South Carolina, where he lettered in baseball for three years. He was a teacher and coach at Hemingway High School, superintendent of Pleasant Hill Schools and principal at Myrtle Beach Grade School, from which he retired.
 

Surviving are daughters, Kelli (John) Fern, Leslie Kent Chinnes and Kyra (Joe) Lee; a sister, Margie McDaniel; grandsons, Ian Chinnes and David Lee; and great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Henn. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia P. Chinnes; five brothers; and two sisters.
 

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb.10, at Surfside United Methodist Church, 800 13th Ave. North, Surfside Beach.
 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Surfside United Methodist Church building fund.

Glenn Bellamy (1965)

He was an outstanding man and great example for all.  Only had to spank me once in seven years at the old Elementary School!  Ha!  My mom thought he was the best.
